Solo Patagonia sails Todo Glaciares from Punta Bandera, 47 km from El Calafate, into the arms of the lake that the short boats never reach: the Upsala channel, the Spegazzini, and the smaller Seco, Heim and Peineta glaciers. The Perito Moreno lies in a different arm and is not on the route, even when a reseller’s title suggests otherwise. Gray Line Argentina sells the same route with transfer.

Two ways to book the route

Both sail daily from September to April and every second day from May to August, and neither includes the park fee. They differ in length and in how you get to the port.

About this trip

Gray Line Argentina sells the Todo Glaciares route from Punta Bandera, with transfer and an optional Captain's Club upgrade. Like every trip on this route, it does not go to the Perito Moreno.

Reviewers saw the Upsala glacier only from a distance.

Facts from the product page on the booking platform and the operators’ own information, checked in October 2026.

Upsala from the deck, Spegazzini on foot

The Upsala is seen from a distance only, and reviewers of the Gray Line listing describe the same. The Spegazzini is where the boat lands: the route includes a stop at the base of the glacier with its refugio, the part of the day when you leave the deck.

One older review of the Gray Line route sums up the most common misunderstanding: both glaciers were fine from the catamaran, but the Perito Moreno was not part of the day. If you have only one day for the lake and want the Perito Moreno in it, the Marpatag cruise from Puerto La Soledad is the route that combines Spegazzini and the Upsala channel with the north face.

A day that starts at Punta Bandera

  • Punta Bandera is 47 km from town. Hotel pickup is an option on the Solo Patagonia listing and covers the town area only.
  • Gray Line includes the transfer. Both listings mention a Captain’s Club upgrade on board, and reviewers of each found it worth the extra.
  • One reviewer staying in a flat without reception walked 35 minutes to the meeting point.
  • Reviewers describe the English commentary as shorter than the Spanish one.

Winter sailings and weather

From May to August the route runs every second day, so a short winter visit may leave you only one possible date. Solo Patagonia does not cancel for rain, and reviewers name the weather as the main drawback of the day: a long crossing under low cloud shows far less ice. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure gives some room when the forecast looks bad. Weather and season on the lake has the monthly temperatures and the calendar of every trip.

The park pass

Both listings put the national park entrance under not included, so you need the pass for the day. Solo Patagonia sent one reviewer the link to buy the pass online in advance. The park fee page explains the day pass and the multi-day Flexipass.

Reviews from the Upsala route

Reviewers like the organisation and the comfort on board. The three-star voices are about cost and about the Perito Moreno, which this route does not visit. The second of them dates from 2017 and is shown because no newer review states it as clearly.

“We really enjoyed the cruise, and found the Captain’s Club option to be pricey but an added bonus. The guide was friendly & knowledgeable, the seats were very comfortable, there was plenty of snacks, food & beverages, and the scenery was wonderful!”

“It was planned really well . The pick up was on time and the guide was very informative through out the day . The captains cabin was well worth the money and highly recommended . …”

“was a great day but it’s way too expensive for what it is.”

“A must do but Perito Moreno is not included in the tour. Both visited Glaciers were fantastic to see from the Catamaran in the sunny wheather.”
